Hungarian Product Grand Prix again. Products representing exceptional quality, which are also competitive by international standards and made using envronment-friendly methods or services related to such products can be nominated for the prizes to be awarded for the tenth time this year. Nominations have to be submitted by 25. May.

Production has started in the Vértesszőlős plant of DanAgrico ZRt. The company is owned by the Danish co-operative venture, Danaeg. The largest and most modern egg processing plant in Hungary can produce 5,000 tons of egg liqiud which is sold in various package sizes to food manufacturers.

CBA Kereskedelmi Kft. is to establish supermarkets in major Ukranian and Russian cities with the Ukranain Nemiroff Holding. Athe first stores are to be opened in Moscow and Kiev. An international tender has been published to invite suppliers. Negotiations will begin about supplying the 6700 CBS stores with products from Eastern Europe next month. Last year, 86 products worth EUR 40 million were ordered using centralised purchasing.

Bintje potatoes are listed at ten times the 2003 price at the potatoe exchange. The price is now EUR 300 per ton. The reason behind the price rise is the bad harvest in Europe and the chips-craze in China. Experts expect the price to continue rising, since China – already producin a quarter of the world total – still cannot even meet domestic demand.
