The BioTechUSA Health Awards were presented for the first time on November 22 at the Museum of Ethnography. An independent, five-member jury judged the large number of applications received in the 3 categories, and the award winners will use a total of 18 million forints provided by BioTechUSA to develop educational materials to support home care, for the recreation of healthcare workers, for the development of Hungary’s only gynecological clinic for disadvantaged women, and for more efficient care for patients in an intensive care unit. The professional partner of the award is the Hungarian Hospital Association, and its ambassador is actor-presenter Ramóna Lékai-Kiss, the brand ambassador of BioTechUSA.

The establishment of the award further expands the social responsibility portfolio of the BioTechUSA group. The company wanted to support the implementation of ideas that carry new healthcare solutions and methodologies, and thus can bring about change not only at the local level, but also national attitudes and brand-new healthcare operating principles.

Home care, recreation for healthcare workers and gynecological care for disadvantaged women will also become more efficient

The BioTechUSA group, together with its partners, announced the winners in three categories from the 49 applications received, with a grant of 5-5-5 million forints each for the winning organizations:

The winner of the “most outstanding healthcare innovation activity of the year” category is the Budapest Methodological Social Center and Institutions (BMSZKI), which operates Hungary’s first trauma-aware gynecological specialist clinic. The institution has been opening a trauma-sensitive gynecological clinic for homeless and disadvantaged women for more than 2 years, which combines healthcare and social care in a holistic approach. In addition to the development of the institution, the support will be used to develop educational materials for the trauma-aware approach and to make it more widely known.
The winner of the “most outstanding infrastructure development plan of the year” category is the Akut Pécs Foundation. The organization’s goal is to improve the care of patients in need of acute care in and around Pécs. Thanks to the support, the Foundation is developing the Pécs Emergency Clinic and implementing a comprehensive recreation program for the clinic’s healthcare workers in order to reduce their burnout. In this spirit, a recreation area is being created at the clinic, and mental hygiene classes are also being introduced.

• The winner of the “most outstanding educational methodology or health literacy campaign of the year” category is the Veresegyháza Mission Health Center. The Center deals with outpatient care and rehabilitation, with special attention to individual therapeutic treatment of the physically disabled and brain-injured. The support will be used to create a multimedia educational material – on the topic of home care, nursing, and mobilization, which can greatly contribute to the ability of their patients and the family members caring for them to create a sustainable livable life situation.

Following the pre-screening of the BioTechUSA Health Award applications, the Foundation for Complex Tumor Treatment, the Budapest Medical Students Association, the Clinical Center of the University of Pécs, the Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic, the Bács-Kiskun County Teaching Hospital, the Nevetnikék Foundation, and the Budapest Saint Francis Hospital were shortlisted, from which institutions the organization that received a contribution of 3 million forints for the implementation of its development was selected through a public vote.
