Even though plane tickets are getting more expensive, more people are traveling by plane this year
Experts expect further growth in demand for air travel this year, which predicts a continuous increase compared to last year. A double-digit increase can be observed in the month of January, indicating that people are actively planning their flights again – states the Világgazdaság article.
The trends show that 17 percent more people were interested in air tickets in January than in the same period of the previous year. Airlines are constantly expanding their flights and capacities, adapting to the growing demand. However, the industry still misses the direct overseas flights canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic, and based on demand, New York did not make it out of the top 10 destinations even with a stopover.
The impact of Covid had a long-lasting impact on travel habits. During the epidemic, 60-70 percent of passengers booked flights only 30 days before the trip, and airlines helped passengers with flexible conditions and rebooking options. Last year, however, the situation normalized, and according to the statistics of Repjegy.hu, the proportion of purchases within 30 days was 48 percent, while those between 30 and 90 days were 35 percent, and those after 90 days were 20 percent.
