The three-day Garda Festival of Tihany to be held this weekend

The 14th Garda Festival of Tihany begins this Friday. The festival evokes the tradition of garda fishing and provides culinary a cultural programs as well.

Rózsa Éva the director of the Németh László Culture Center of Tihany told that in the fall when the water of the Balaton is cold the garda fish swim close to the surface. At a traditional garda fishing, the fishermen were watching the fish from a boat “while the man on the mountain” directed them with a variety of signals from the hill. (MTI)
