Last year’s number three stands on top of the podium
‘Restaurant’ magazine in the UK publishes the list of the world’s best restaurants every year. Organisers divide the world into 26 regions and the leaders of these regions pick which chefs, restaurant critics and trade journalists vote on the best.
The ranking was published on 26 April with great media hype and it turned out that Catalan chef Ferran Adria’s El Bulli lost the number one spot to chef Rene Redzepi’s Nobu in Copenhagen, which first entered the top 50 at the 36th place in 2006. Actually, 100 restaurants are shortlisted for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants contest, but the magazine only presents the best 50.
In 2007, there were two Hungarian restaurants in the top 100. The lifetime achievement award was presented for first time and it honoured Eckart Witzigmann.
