Mountain villages: this year's wine volume is under two million hectoliters
This year, about 1.8 million hectoliters of wine was transported into the cellars in Hungary, compared to the 2.5 million hectoliters of last year – Horváth Csaba, Secretary General of the National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) told MTI.
The extreme weather affected the vineyards badly. Therefore, the yield this year was around 340 thousand tons, compared to the 450 thousand tons of last year. He noted, however, that the quality of the crop was excellent generally and the must-degrees are high.
This year's harvest is practically completed in mid-October, only a few grape types Aszu and a few late varieties are still under harvest. (MTI)
