Modern and effective waste management at SPAR

The SPAR Hungary Ltd. in order to reduce the environmental impact, will introduce effective and future-oriented solutions in waste management, in 2010 and 2011.

One of the initial successful project is the food waste biogas recovery, which first commercially used by SPAR among the food chains.
The Spar group is operating nearly 400 stores, two logistics centers and a meat plant. In these units, annually 1900 tonnes of biodegradable waste is produced. As the result of the newly introduced biogas conceptm, this waste turns into green energy and the amount of harmful substances also decreases.
