The head of the department said that the Ministry of Agriculture views the sector of animal breeders and livestock keepers as a strategic partner. And the task is to strengthen production cooperation in this sector as well, so that effective advocacy and an effective market can be created. He added that the main direction is to increase competitiveness and added value. This is how the processing industry and the food industry can be developed with tenders. István Nagy emphasized that the Hungarian government recently decided to speed up the payment of area- and animal-based subsidies requested in the 2023 uniform applications and to close them by May 31. By the beginning of April, the Hungarian State Treasury had paid HUF 470 billion to 156,000 farmers, and another HUF 55 billion last week. With this, the Agro-Ecological Program was launched, and the payment of the agri-environmental management program, which has been running for a long time, will continue with a significant amount, explained the head of the ministry.

Compared to the EU, Hungarian livestock breeders and livestock keepers have the largest number of support rights available

Thanks to the Rural Development Program, almost 3,700 animal breeders have received small or large funds for the development of their farms, which means a grant of HUF 532 billion. This development package is a program for the technological development of Hungary’s largest animal farm after the system change, added István Nagy.
