3 million Hungarians on the road to spend Christmas at home
According to the latest Mastercard research, over 3 million Hungarians will board a plane, bus or train to spend Christmas with their family. 15 percent of Hungarian respondents will come from abroad, while 28 percent will travel to another city for the holidays. Interestingly, every fourth traveler’s come back with a surprise for his family. The biggest passenger traffic is expected on Christmas Eve.
According to the latest Mastercard data, a new record could be set: nearly 250 million people – including 3 million Hungarians – will visit their home town by the end of the year. Hungarians travel an average of 396 km during this time, which is about a distance between Budapest and Ljubljana. Most people will travel by bus or car, and 12 percent by plane.
