Balázs Hankó: the goal is for Hungary to be among the top 10 innovators in the world by 2030
The government’s goal is for Hungary to be among the top 10 innovators in the world by 2030, said Balázs Hankó, the future Minister of Culture and Innovation, on Tuesday at the Huawei Tech4Value – ICT Day conference in Budapest.
He said that without a quick and successful digital transition, there is no competitive Hungarian economy. He recalled that one of the focus areas of the János Neumann Program is digitalization, which not only plays a prominent role in research and innovation, but modern education cannot be imagined without new digital solutions.
Balázs Hankó spoke about the results achieved in higher education, vocational training and adult education. Among other things, he said, there is a change in competitiveness in higher education, instead of 7, 12 Hungarian universities are in the top 5 percent of the world, and one is in the top 1 percent.
According to his assessment, Hungarian vocational training is among the best in Europe, and the professionals who graduate from it achieve excellent results in international competitions.
Speaking about innovation, he drew attention to the fact that Hungary’s innovation performance ranks 33rd according to the Global Innovation Index (GII).
