The purchasing power of Hungarian consumers may improve soon
According to Giacomo Pedranzini, managing director of Kométa, the purchasing power of Hungarian consumers may soon improve as a result of lower inflation and wage increases, enabling them to buy more and better quality food.
At the Portfolio AgroFood 2024 Conference held in Kecskemét, Pedranzini emphasized the importance of food quality and recommended that we consume less, but high-quality food, according to the summary of the Agricultural sector.
Within the framework of the HonestFood initiative, which was signed at the conference, the managing director highlighted the importance of nature and environmental protection, as well as animal welfare. This movement aims to promote higher quality standards in the food industry while also keeping human health in mind.
According to Pedranzini, the Hungarian food industry faces serious challenges, including strong import pressure, which adversely affects the market position of domestic products. To counterbalance this, manufacturers must focus on the price-value ratio in order to steer Hungarian consumers towards domestic products.
