Harvesting is coming to an end soon
This year’s harvest is about to end. Slightly more than 10 million tons of autumn crops were harvested this year, compared to last year’s 12.3 million tons – the Minister of State of the Ministry of Agriculture (FM) announced in Budapest at a press conference.
Czerván György said that maize is grown on about 1 million hectares this year. The yield is expected to be an average of 6.7 tons per hectare, which is about 2 million tonnes less than last year’s record production. About 20,000 hectares of maize is still to be harvested. Works will end in a day or two – he said. (MTI)
