Third of the annual turkey consumption in the U.S.A. is during Thanksgiving
In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is one of the largest family holiday beside Christmas. Since 1621 the main course of the feast is the roasted turkey.
The U.S.A. is the world's largest consumers of turkey. Thanksgiving Day is important in terms of turkey consumption: the third of the annual turkey consumption in the country happens during Thanksgiving. Although turkey meat consumption does not traditionally linked to the feast in Hungary, the Hungarians also like turkey: Hungary is the world’s third largest turkey meat consumer nation with an approx. 5.5 kg turkey a year.
