If we help each other, success will not be left behind!
For more than a decade, thousands of Hungarian farmers from here and across the border have been helping needy families year after year as part of the Bread of Magyars – 15 million grains of wheat program. In addition, the program intends to become a custodian and mediator of professional collaborations within agriculture, the flow of information and knowledge, and through this to provide not only fish, but also nets and tools. The results achieved so far encourage and oblige all contributors to mobilize even greater forces for the development, expansion and expansion of the program.
In line with these principles and goals, the “Hungarian Bread for the Future” scholarship program was announced for the first time, with the support of the Agricultural Enterprise Credit Guarantee Foundation (AVHGA), to help talented young Hungarians prosper. In its first year, the scholarship program provides financial support for the development of 12 young people, including five students from Transcarpathia, two from Transylvania and five from the motherland, as well as young farmers. The supporting documents and diplomas representing the scholarships were handed over on October 30, 2023, in the Parliament.
Development is supported by the program
The goal of the “Bread of Hungarians for the Future” program is to support and embrace the activities that promote the renewal, sustainable development and innovativeness of Hungarian agriculture in the Carpathian Basin – carried out primarily by young farmers, and for the sake of the (“greener”) agriculture of the future and safe food production , acquiring the necessary knowledge for this. The purpose of the scholarship is also to support talented and committed young agricultural students, to expand their network of contacts, to promote the rural way of life based on traditional values, to demonstrate the importance of sustainable farming, and to strengthen awareness of environmental and climate protection.
Young people must prepare for the future
At the ceremony, István Jakab, the president of the Association of Hungarian Farmers’ Associations and Farmers’ Cooperatives, said in his welcome speech that difficulties can always arise, but young people must prepare for the future, for which it is our task to provide the foundations, help them get started, and take on some of the financial burdens. “The nation is behind you. Do not forget that we have been authorized to serve, serving the nation is a common cause for all of us. If we help each other, success will not be left behind. I wish you to be very successful, for which God will give you strength and faith.” Dr. András Herczegh, the executive director of the AVHGA, highlighted in his speech that it is an honor for the foundation to be a part of the launch of the “Hungarian Bread for the Future” initiative, and to help the studies and professional development of the future generation. Through the scholarship program, he tries to embrace the renewal of Hungarian agriculture in the Carpathian Basin. He emphasized that the primary goal of the AVHGA is to provide fast and efficient help and support to businesses operating in agriculture through its guarantee, thereby providing resources to more than ten thousand farmers every year. Balázs Győrffy, the president of the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy, emphasized that it is gratifying that the Magyarok Kenyere program – thanks to the large number of donors and the developing relationship systems – can and does provide support on an ever wider scale. He emphasized that the new element, the scholarship support, also emphasizes the importance of the generational renewal of the agricultural sector. As he said, we base our future on our present, as farmers and as a nation.
