If it’s summer, then barbecue! – Tips for the perfect barbecue in the garden
In the heat, our meals change completely: the rich selection of fresh vegetables and fruits offers endless possibilities for creative, light and healthy recipes. Grilled vegetables are not only light and tasty dishes, they can also be the perfect addition to a picnic or garden party. The experts of DélKerTÉSZ, which brings together three hundred and fifty producing families in Szentes, have collected some tips for the perfect summer barbecue.
One of the tireless parts of summer is grilling in the garden, but we tend to forget about vegetables, which, in addition to complementing meat, can also serve as an alternative when grilling. DélKerTÉSZ experts will tell you how to bring out the best flavors from seasonal vegetables, such as peppers and tomatoes. Choose the right vegetables! Almost all vegetables can be prepared on the grill, but according to the experts, you should first choose vegetables with a lower water content.
Peppers, eggplant, carrots, various mushrooms, potatoes, zucchini, onions, asparagus and corn are also great vegetables to grill. Sometimes it’s worth experimenting with new things, because the sweet taste of cherry tomatoes becomes even more intense during grilling, while the kápia pepper also shows a new face – you can find a sweet, smoky flavor harmony when preparing the thick, red meat kápia. These vegetables are the perfect side dish for any grilled meat, but they can also be complete meals on their own. Pay attention to the dimensions! Whatever vegetables you choose, it’s important to cut them into the right size: small enough to cook quickly, but big enough not to fall apart during cooking.
