If it’s November, then it’s Franc Villányi!

The FRANC & FRANC international conference and tasting day was launched as a symbol of the unity of the Villány wine region, and has now become the premier professional meeting and wine tasting event of the wine region.

The X. FRANC & FRANC Forum will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 9:30 a.m., hosted by the conference room of the Bock Winery in Villány. (7773 Villány, Batthyány Lajos u. 15.)

The professional conference will feature a rich selection of the most exciting topics of the past ten years.  The opening lecture of the forum will examine the role of keeping the skins on through the tasted Cabernet Franc wine samples, followed by the introduction of the 12 Villányi Francs chosen as the best in 2025, the TOP12, in the personal presentations of international wine academician András Horkay and the TOP12 wineries.

In the afternoon session, the most popular Cabernet Franc producing countries will be introduced in the presentations of renowned experts. The European regions – Tuscany and Loire – will be presented by Finnish Master of Wine Pasi Ketolainen, while the New World regions – California, Chile, Argentina – will be presented by Master of Wine Peter McCombie. A guest speaker will arrive directly from South Africa in the person of Reino Thiart, who will present three wines as part of the professional program.

To close the day, the experts participating in the discussion will be able to comment on the conclusions of the conference, highlighting the experiences of Villány, in the framework of a roundtable discussion titled “Villány through the Decades.”

The highlight of the Franc & Franc Forum is undoubtedly the first presentation of the Villány TOP12, jointly chosen by Villány winemakers and experts, to the general public. The selected wines are intended to represent the premium brand of the wine region during community presentations in the year following the conference.
