If the acacia blossom freezes, little honey is expected
If, as the result of the extreme weather of recent days, the acacia blossom, which is the main source of nectar in Hungarian beekeeping, freezes a bad honey production is expected for this year. The damages have not been measured yet – Takács Ferenc, a beekeeper told M1 news channekl on Friday.
The expert added that the current period is also the time of rape flowering, so the rape seed crop is surely affected by the extremely bad weather.
In response to this question, he explained that the quality of honey is not related to weather, so if bees can go out and bring nectar, honey will be of the highest quality. However, he also pointed out that if the temperature does not reach 10 degrees Celsius, bees will not leave hives. (MTI)
