Alpár Gyopáros: many convenience stores were saved in the Hungarian village program
Since the start of the Hungarian village program, the government has provided more than HUF 1,000 billion in development resources to small settlements in Hungary, mainly from domestic budget resources, the government commissioner responsible for the development of modern settlements said on Thursday in Hernádkak, at the handover of the developments completed in the program.
Alpár Gyopáros stated that, in cooperation with the mayors, they were able to create a complex support program that includes housing support, state side road network development, local government development and NGO support. With the help of the project, small businesses were developed and convenience stores were saved, and they will continue this work in the future, he noted.
At the event, Zsófia Koncz, the region’s Fidesz parliamentary representative, said that less than five thousand people live in thirty-eight of the forty-two settlements in her constituency. He said that the Hungarian village program “gave incredible strength and momentum to the countryside”, as many public areas, playgrounds and institutions were renewed with its help.
