Kifli.hu, Mastercard and Élélmiszerbank are launching a fundraising campaign for children’s meals
The Magyar Élélmiszerbank Egyesület, with Mastercard and Kifli.hu are launching a fund-raising campaign to support the feeding of needy children and draw attention to the problem of food waste. Kifli.hu customers participating in the initiative support the Food Bank with HUF 260 for every order made with a Mastercard card.
As part of the cooperation between Kifli.hu and the Food Bank, the online supermarket regularly donates food that can no longer be sold commercially, but is perfectly suitable for consumption. So far this year, 42,501 kg of food have been handed over to the Food Bank, and during the cooperation since 2020, a total of 191,544 kg of food donations have been delivered to the needy. The campaign, which runs until November 19, offers a simple, yet effective way to help: customers of Kifli.hu will automatically contribute HUF 260 to food for children living in difficult situations by choosing the Mastercard payment method during their usual online shopping.
Gabriel Makki, managing director of Kifli.hu, said about the campaign:
“We are proud to have partnered with Mastercard and the Food Bank to find such a simple and effective way for our customers to help children in need. This initiative fits perfectly with Kifli.hu’s sustainability efforts and allows us to contribute to positive social change during our everyday shopping.”
András Nagygyörgy, director responsible for external relations of Élélmiszerbank, reminded about the campaign that food waste is one of the most serious social and environmental problems today. He added that although there is enough food for everyone on the planet, many people still go hungry, and 10 percent of greenhouse gases can also be linked to food that is produced but not consumed.
