Weak consumer sentiment in the euro area
Consumer confidence in the euro area declined in August, reaching the lowest level of more than a year earlier, according to preliminary figures released by DG ECFIN (Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs).
In August consumer sentiment decreased to minus 1.9 points the lowest level since May 2017, from the previous month’s minus 0.5 points in the 19 Member States of the euro area.
The market expected 0.7 points for August in the euro area. (MTI)
