Weakly year beginning in hotel area
According to Central Statistic office, the three, four and five star hotels had a 39 percent occupancy rate in the first month of 2008. Gross Room Revenue – on current prices – was up 9 percent compared to one year before.
Thanks to the hotels in the capital and
at Lake Balaton there was a slight tourism night growth. In January, gross ARR (Average Room
Rate) was 16 000 HUF, which corresponded to average winter prices. This index was
outstandingly high – 30 400 HUF – in Budapest five star
facilities.
Budapest four as well as rural four and
five star hotels – on average – enforced 10 700–17 300 HUF,
while surveyed three star facilities had 9 600–10 200 HUF average
room rates. Average daily REVPAR (revenue per
available room) was gross 6 300 HUF. Highest – 15 100 HUF
– amount was achieved by Budapest
five star units, lowest – 2900 HUF – amount was reported by West-
Hungarian three star units.
Overall gross room revenue was up 9
percent in January 2008. Ten percent plus reference period growth was reported by Lake Balaton
hotels as well as Budapest five and three star facilities. Other
three star units had 2–4 percent room revenue decline.
The number of tourism nights increased
by 1 percent in surveyed units. Budapest four and five star hotels reported more guest nights.
Rural hotels stagnated or suffered setbacks, however Balaton four
star hotels reported outstanding – 15 percent – growth.
The occupancy rate in Budapest five
star hotels was around 50 percent. Except West-Hungarian and Balaton three star hotels, all other
hotel classes reported 37–44 percent occupancy rates.
