GVH president: The Price Monitor protects families
Csaba Balázs Rigó, president of the Economic Competition Authority (GVH), gave a presentation on vulnerable consumer groups at the professional conference of the Consumer Protection Research Group of the Budapest University of Economics (BGE). The president of the national competition authority presented GVH’s consumer protection activities through practical examples and cases closed in the past period, with a special focus on the protection of children, families, the elderly and patients. About the online Price Monitor, he said: the system primarily protects families.
The President of the Economic Competition Authority highlighted at the beginning of his presentation:
“GVH has been paying special attention to the protection of vulnerable consumers for a long time. “Vulnerable consumers are our compatriots who, for some reason, are more significantly exposed to the dangers of being influenced,” he added. He explained: “Such a reason could be, for example, if members of an identifiable consumer group pay particular attention to their health status and are therefore more easily influenced by advertisements that link misleading health benefits to a product. The GVH must, of course, pay special attention to the protection of these groups in the course of its consumer protection activities.”
Balázs Csaba Rigó underlined.
