Variations on grill product
In the last 5 years 2013 was the first year in the grill product market when ZIMBO Kft.’s sales augmented – we were informed by Tamás Kováts, commercial director of ZIMBO Perbál Kft. He thinks that the general negative trend of recent years was the result of changing consumption habits and the rising prices of grill products. In addition to the good old flavours developed by manufacturers (cheese, garlic, black pepper, chilli), ZIMBO Kft. also comes out with new products this season: beef and veal products, and Western, Pilisi, Puszta and Stuttgart grill sausages. All of their products boast high meat content and are free from gluten, soy and artificial colouring. The majority of products are available in 200g and 300g versions. The company will use a special grill product campaign this year to support sales.
András Benkő, domestic sales manager with Kaiser Food told our magazine that last year’s barbecue season was a success for the company. This year they start the season with an updated grill product selection: they will be present in all retail chains, using a different concept in each channel. From the lower-priced to the premium category they will offer smaller-sized products of higher quality. 2014 brought the debut of the 190g grill sausage in cheese, mustard, piquant and mix versions. They also have a prize game, with prizes drawn every day and every week. According to Zsolt Kazai, sales manager of Wiesbauer-Dunahús, their grill product sales increased dynamically last year and in 2014 they hope for two-digit sales growth again. This season they put two new products on the market: Wiesbauer Barbecue grill sausage can be the favourite of those who like an American-type, sweet-salty taste, while Wiesbauer hot grill sausage is for those who like strong flavours. Both products are sold in 300g vacuum foil packaging. Last year Landhof Hungária Kft. sold more Mixes, Party Packs and White Grill Sausages (Bratwürstel) than in the previous season – Trade magazine was told by key account manager Péter Gnám. 500g and gastro size products were discontinued due to lack of demand. The company’s experience is that hard discounters and private label products play a more important role in the grill product category than before. Landhof Hungária offers the same proven and tested products as in the last season
