The GREEN BRANDS 2024 regional gala, held in Vienna’s historic Niederösterreich Palais in December, celebrated the best representatives of sustainability.

The GREEN BRANDS trademark is an internationally recognised and protected label for ecological sustainability in more than 32 countries

Sustainability excellence from Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia gathered to receive their awards in front of around 300 spectators.

A good example for regional actors

GREEN BRANDS is an independent internatonal certification organisation based in Veitsbronn, Germany. GREEN BRANDS rewards brands, companies and individuals who are leaders in sustainability.

“It is a trusted ecological certification that can be awarded to anyone – regardless of industry or company size – who operates sustainably or provides sustainable services or products. The GREEN BRANDS Regional Gala is organised to honour and celebrate the true ambassadors of sustainability”,

said András Wiszkidenszky, regional director of GREEN BRANDS.

Green Personality of the Year: Ida Petrik

The highlight of the gala evening was presenting the Green Personality of the Year award. Since 2012 the international GREEN BRANDS® – Green Personality of the Year award has been recognising professionals who contribute to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability through their professional activities and everyday life.

“Anyone can win this award who is working for a greener future and promotes sustainability through their personal example, professionalism and commitment. We are very proud of this year’s Hungarian winner, Ida Petrik, who has been named Green Personality of the Year 2024 in Hungary following a complex 3-step selection process!”,

told Hajnalka Kovács-Czövek, country manager of GREEN BRANDS Hungary.

For brands that have already successfully completed the process in a previous cycle, the process of reassessment gives the opportunity to re-certify themselves and earn one, two or more stars for their brand.

Green Personality of the Year,
Ida Petrik believes that
the power of communities is
the key to sustainable development

Economist, sustainability and business ethics expert Ida Petrik has been a prominent figure in the field of sustainable economic solutions and community building for more than a decade. In 2023 she founded and has been the leader of MSVK (Modern & Stylish Rural Business Community), a cross-industry and cross-regional group of rural, mainly family-owned businesses that believe in respecting traditions and premium quality, while also operating sustainably.

“Rural businesses that join our community can make a significant contribution to sustainable consumption habits, by offering a way of life with products and services that are less exposed to quickly changing trends or simply by producing healthy, chemical-free food”,

said Ida Petrik.

Zsuzsanna Hermann, CEO and editor-in-chief of Trade magazin and a member of the GREEN BRANDS jury panel told:

“I am really proud of this year’s winners, as brands have to go through a rigorous testing system to be recognised as GREEN BRANDS. I am particularly pleased that Ida Petrik won the Green Personality award this year, an accolade that exemplifies Ida’s work, her spirit and her community building efforts. Congratulations to all the award winners and best wishes for continued success!” //

The worldwide unique process to reward eco-sustainable brands ends with the jury’s decision. Jury members vote independently on each brand, taking into account all the documents submitted and the GREEN BRANDS index
