Grand Hotel Royal Budapest – The history of a luxury hotel in the museum
An exhibition titled Grand Hotel Royal Budapest – The history of the luxury hotel from the beginning to the present day opens on April 28 at the Hungarian Trade and Hospitality Museum.
The Royal Grand Hotel opened in 1896 as Europe’s largest hotel. The hotel, dreamed up by the Glück brothers and their associates, had 350 rooms on five floors. The luxury hotel, built for tourists and foreign visitors coming for the millennium anniversary, pampered its guests with an elevator, telephone, and electric lighting. Several restaurants, cafes, a beautiful ballroom decorated with murals, lounges, a meeting room and a hair salon are also located in the building with a floor area of more than 31,500 m2.
