Gourmet adventure on the go: OMV VIVA’s summer gastronomic offer has been renewed
Summer is not only about freedom and sunshine, but also about discovering new flavors. That is why OMV is preparing for the season with a new gastronomic offer this year: Mediterranean and BBQ pulled duck leg gourmet sandwiches made from carefully selected ingredients, refreshing iced coffees and the new turkey Leberkäse together take on-the-go dining to a new level.
Once again, Attila Bicsár, executive chef of SAUSKA Restaurants recommended by the Michelin Guide, has dreamed up the gourmet sandwiches available at OMV VIVA filling stations, which will turn even a refueling into a gastronomic experience.
The BBQ pulled duck leg sandwich was inspired by summer barbecues: the roasted, shredded duck meat is seasoned with rosemary and comes in a savory pretzel bun and is served with BBQ sauce, rhubarb jam and fresh romaine lettuce – a balance between sweet and smoky notes. The Avocado Cream Sandwich with Greek Cheese and Onion Jam is a meatless, full-fledged dish in the summer menu, which evokes the Mediterranean lifestyle: a seeded brown bun contains silky avocado cream, salty feta cheese and sweet red onion jam – a true summer, refreshing flavor combination.
“For me, creating a new dish is always a game with flavors and memories, in this case recalling authentic moments related to summer. It is important that the guest recognizes familiar elements in it, but at the same time enriches them with something completely new – even in the form of a sandwich”
– added Attila Bicsár, who draws inspiration from many parts of the world, yet is a believer in simple, traditional flavors. The premium sandwich selection just introduced follows this ars poetica: it is based on fresh, quality ingredients, with special pairings.
In addition to the gourmet sandwiches, OMV VIVA’s Leberkäse offer, which has been popular for several years, also contains something new. For fans of the Austrian specialty, the new turkey Leberkäse may be a summer favorite. The product, made with fresh turkey meat, is made in the oven in the traditional way and comes in a Caesar bun. It is an excellent, lighter alternative to the classic, cheese or chili Leberkäse that is already available at gas stations.
