Fungal infections can kill Colombian bananas
Slowly, humanity seems reach an important juncture: either it is cultivating and consuming a new type of genetically modified banana, or it is giving up banana permanently – Index wrote.
National Geographic, citing the Colombian Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, writes that the fungal infection TR4 has reached Latin American sites, which is fatal to Cavendish banana, which accounts for most of the world’s banana production. (Index)
