GKI: purchasing power of the population will decrease by two and a half percent this year
This year, the purchasing power of the population will decrease by about 2.5 percent. It will be the fifth year since since 2006, , when – except for last year's stagnation – a reduction will occur in the consumption of the population – wrote the head researcher of GKI.
In the first two months of the year, that have brought significant tax changes, gross average earnings grew by 5.5 percent, while net wages – without taking the family allowance into account – increased by 2.5 percent, compared to the level of a year earlier.
In the private sector in the first two months, gross wage increase was an average 7 percent (which is higher than the Government's formulated recommendations wage increase of 5 percent).
The average monthly earnings rose by 9.9 percent, while the non-regular earnings decreased by an almost 25 percent. (Világgazdaság Online)
