GKI: territorial differences in purchasing power are significant in the country
Territorial differences in purchasing power are still significant in Hungary. Settlements with higher than average purchasing power are mainly located in Northern Transdanubia and Central Hungary, while the poorer regions can be found in North Eastern Hungary and South Hungary – the GKI Economic Research Co. announced on Wednesday.
By comparing the 2009-2016 data, it can be stated that in 2016 the per capita purchasing power was high, and the benefits of richer municipalities continued to grow, while the poor regions continued to further lagging behind – GKI reported.
Based on data of the National Tax and Customs Office and the Central Statistical Office, the per capita purchasing power in 2016 was 1.2 million HUF on average in the settlements of Hungary, but the difference between the poorest and richest settlement was almost 3 million HUF. (MTI)
