Giants’ struggle for costumers
Deloitte made the ranking of the most powerful commercial chains. The great surprise is that Tesco slid down from the podium. The British Tesco was overtaken by the German Metro group. The leader remains the American Wal-Mart group.
Wal-Mart is the largest retail company of America and the world. On the basis of the sales it is considered to be the planet's largest company. Wal-Mart has 8 thousand stores in 15 countries, and has more than 2 million employees. The company's 2008 annual turnover was 401 billion USD.
French Carrefour is the second in the rankings, with a 127 billion USD turnover. The group has 14 thousand stores in 36 countries.
German Metro group owns the third place ahead of Tesco, with 2200 businesses, 300 thousand employees in 32 countries – reports Penzcentrum.hu.
