Gianni Annoni was named Restaurateur of the Year in 2025

The Hungarian Restaurant Association has awarded the Restaurant of the Year award to a deserving colleague for the 23rd time. This year, the professional recognition went to restaurant owner, television presenter, and writer Gianni Annoni.

Gianni came to Budapest as a scholarship holder from the Italian LIUC Universitá Cattaneo University to study economics at the University of Economics, and then settled here.

Since then, he has opened several restaurants, the best known being the Trattoria Pomo D’oro restaurant and the other units of Via ltalia: Osteria Pomo d’Oro, Gelateria, Casa, and most recently Pizza Bar Pomo d’Oro. In addition to these, he also plays an important role in other restaurants and catering companies, such as Várkert Bazár Catering (since 2016) or the Michelin-starred Essencia restaurant (since 2020). He is also one of the founders of the Pizza Me network.

He is always guided by the use and introduction of quality ingredients, the Italian style and lifestyle, and the humility of hospitality. At the end of 2019, Trattoria Pomo d’Oro became the first Hungarian restaurant representing Italian gastronomy to be included in the members of the Italian Buon Ricordo Restaurant Association; His restaurant was the first to receive the patronage plaque of the Italian Chefs Association, then the recommendation of the Italian Culinary Academy, and was included in the world’s 70 best Italian restaurants where pizza is also available.
