GfK: minimally improved consumer sentiment in Germany in October
German consumer sentiment is barely improving in October compared to the previous month, with minimal pessimism remaining, according to a forecast released by GfK’s Nuremberg-based Economic Research Institute published on Wednesday. The October Mood Index improved to minus 1.6 points from minus 1.7 points in September. Analysts expected a bigger improvement, minus 1 point.
Last October, the indicator stood at an additional 9.9 points.
According to Gfk’s methodology, a value of the mood index above zero indicates that consumption is increasing year-on-year and a value below zero is showing a decrease. Each point indicates a 0.1 percent annual change in household consumption. (MTI)
