A new generation of Hungarian farmers
There were more than 200 participants at the Young Agricultural Experts Club meetings organised by Syngenta in Balatonszárszó, Kecskemét and Hajdúszoboszló. Farmers between the ages of 20 and 40 were listening to presentations and exchanging their professional experiences. Syngenta’s business development manager Péter Heincz told that a new generation of farmers is taking over: according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH), 31 percent of farmers are older than 65 years so they are about to retire. Last year there were 62,000 young farmers (average age: 34) in Hungary. Mr Heincz added that events like this can help them become more successful in their work.
