The goal is to improve the quality of life for generations: Nestlé’s summary of shared value creation has been published
Nestlé is committed to transforming and renewing food systems to continue to provide high-quality food to its consumers globally, at affordable prices. In addition, the company places great emphasis on social responsibility, whether it is about complying with its environmental commitments or educating young people. Nestlé’s domestic subsidiary has been operating in Hungary in the same spirit for 35 years, and thanks to the hard work and large-scale investments, it can boast an outstanding economic and social impact, as 0.5 percent of Hungarian GDP can be linked to the operations of Nestlé Hungária Kft. – according to Nestlé’s recently published 2025 Shared Value Creation Summary.
Nestlé Its activities related to shared value creation always have an impact on the company’s immediate environment in several dimensions. In addition to fulfilling environmental commitments, a major role is played by educating children about balanced nutrition, promoting the labor market situation of young people, and supporting social causes related to certain Nestlé brands.
Sustainability in practice
Nestlé makes serious improvements year after year in order to achieve measurable, real results in the field of sustainability. The company has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by almost a quarter since 2018, a fact that has also contributed to this, as all three factories in Hungary – in Bük, Szerencs and Diósgyőr – have been using 100 percent green electricity since 2017.
“One of the most significant investments last year was the Szerencs solar park, which covers nearly 30 percent of the factory’s electricity needs. With our new solar park, we are not only creating greater security of supply for the plant, but at the same time we are also freeing up green electricity capacity on the public power grid,” said Péter Noszek, CEO of the Nestlé Hungary CEO, who added that promoting more sustainable operations is a priority in all three Nestlé factories.
Regenerative agriculture: a more resilient and sustainable future
Nestlé is dedicated to producing products that serve both the well-being of people and the protection of our planet. For example, by 2025, 27.6 percent of key raw materials will come from farms using regenerative agricultural practices. Supporting regenerative approaches and soil-restoring farming methods is extremely important to Nestlé, as these practices have been proven to contribute to more resilient and sustainable supply chains.
“One of the most important tools for reducing greenhouse gas emissions is soil regenerative agriculture. The Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) program, funded by Nestlé PURINA, is also operating in Hungary, which helps Hungarian producers transition to soil regenerative farming by financing the transition to regenerative practices and providing professional advice and education. In 2025, we worked with 25 farmers on more than 13 thousand hectares, making LENs Hungary one of Nestlé’s most significant European regenerative agriculture projects” – said Anna Hőgyész, the Sustainability Manager of Nestlé Hungary. <spa
