Conciliation Forum of Chambers of Commerce: SMEs become the focus of economic policy

On Tuesday, the Conciliation Forum of the Chambers of Commerce held its first autumn meeting, and overall its sixth meeting, which since its establishment in January 2023 – in addition to the coordination of the Ministry of National Economy – has been operating as the government’s economic policy advisory and consultative body, the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) announced in its announcement.

At the Forum created by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers, the National Association of Hungarian Manufacturers, the National Association of Construction Contractors, AmCham Hungary and the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the members reviewed the current situation of the economy, with particular attention to the domestic and international processes affecting the performance and competitiveness of the Hungarian economy and consumption.

Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy emphasized that the focus of the new economic policy is to increase GDP growth to between 3-5 percent in 2025.

The minister asked the economic chambers to participate in the strengthening of domestic SMEs and in the development of an action plan aimed at SMEs, which will dynamize and set the national economy on a higher growth path.

The announcement listed the programs that can be implemented within the framework of the action plan, such as making the Széchényi Card Program more favorable, a capital program supporting the investments and competitiveness of SMEs, a new loan program to stimulate the export of SMEs, a loan supporting the “investment” – foreign investments – of SMEs and capital program, the “1+1” Program that specifically supports the investments of SMEs, the digitization package for SMEs – the aim of which is that all SMEs have their own website and email contact, because without this a competitive business cannot practically exist today, the business development EU program, as well as the corporate electric car subsidy program.
