Competition for gastronomy blogs
Blogs usually serve the purpose of spreading an opinion, but sometimes they can also become a means of business communication. They are also cheaper and simpler to operate than traditional forms of media. 72 blogs have already been entered for the Goldenblog 2008 competition organised by hvg.hu, in the gastronomy blog category. These represent a tremendous diversity of styles and attitudes, providing intellectual excitement, recipes or criticism. An objective ranking is not easy to agree on and criticism came as no surprise to members of the jury. There was agreement regarding at least one thing: professional bloggers did not finish among the best. According to Zsuzsa Gyimesi, editor of the gastronomy column of hvg.hu, professionals try to use such competitions for enhancing their market presence, but cannot be regarded as being of the same league as amateurs without much background. – Neither Büvös Szakács, or Lucullus have been disqualified. I voted the way I did because I did not believe it to be very ethical to give them a higher score than I did to enthusiastic amateurs. (For details see: www.goldenblog.hu)
