Zsolt Fülep became the Agricultural Man of the Year in 2024
On February 21, 2025, the most prestigious recognition in the agricultural profession, the “Agriculturist of the Year” award, was granted to Zsolt Fülep. The award was presented for the 11th time, organized by the Agrotrend Group, to highlight the work of farmers, producers, young agriculturists, and horticulturists who not only contribute to the development of agriculture but also play a significant role in supporting their communities and engaging in social responsibility.

The event’s chief patron was Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, while its patron was Zsolt György Papp, President of the National Chamber of Agriculture. The award winners were selected in ten categories: Agricultural Innovation, Animal Husbandry, Food Industry, Forestry, Young Farmer, Future Agricultural Expert, Horticulture, Plant Protection, Organic Farming, and Field Crop Production.
The event was opened by Zoltán Mátrai, CEO of Agrotrend Group Zrt. In his speech, he reflected on the past ten years, during which 120 awardees were recognized, and more than 170 jury members participated in selecting the most outstanding professionals. Zoltán Mátrai emphasized the role of the young generation and was pleased to note that students from Georgikon were also present at the event, as future agricultural professionals are already key players in the sector.

During the greetings, János Bói, CEO of Limagrain Hungária Kft., Tibor Zászlós, Vice President of the National Chamber of Agriculture, É. Beáta Gál, Head of Communications and Marketing at VOSZ, and Anikó Juhász, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, also emphasized the importance of role models that this award represents.
Based on the jury’s decision, the awards in 2024 were presented in the following categories:
- Agricultural Innovator of the Year: Gábor Szőllősi
- Animal Husbandry Expert of the Year: Zsóka Fekete
- Forestry Engineer of the Year: Dr. György Levente Csóka
- Food Industry Expert of the Year: Zsolt Fülep
- Young Farmer of the Year: László Hegedűs
- Future Agricultural Expert of 2024: András Szunyogh
- Horticulturist of the Year: Prof. Dr. Károly Hrotkó
- Plant Protection Specialist of the Year: Tibor Sipos
- Organic Farmer of the Year: Balázs Kulcsár
- Field Crop Producer of the Year: János Lipták
Additionally, two special awards were presented: the Erste Bank Special Award was given to Zsolt Fülep, while the VOSZ Special Award was granted to Dr. Béla Mártonffy. The public was also able to vote, and the Audience Award was won by Dr. György Levente Csóka.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Agriculturist of the Year award, which was received by Zsolt Fülep, Food Industry Expert of the Year. His recognition was outstanding not only for his professional achievements but also for his social responsibility and dedication to agriculture.

This award and event serve as a crucial occasion to celebrate and showcase the role models in agriculture, whose work contributes not only to the development of the profession but also to the common good of the country.
