Splash-free urinal

Researchers at the University of Waterloo have created the world’s first splash-free urinal.

Their experiments showed that splashing is significant on surfaces steeper than 30 degrees, while it can be reduced at flatter angles. Based on this, they developed the Nautilus urinal, which directs the liquid down in gentle spirals, decreasing splashing by 98%. The modern design isn’t only an aesthetic innovation, but also works very well in practice.
