Voted by men
While new restaurants reflect state of the art 21st-century design, the McDonald’s at Nyugati Square (designed originally by Eiffel as part of Nyugati Station) was voted the 2nd most beautiful on Askmen.com. Six out of the Top 10 are European units – no wonder McDonald’s pays close attention to and invests a lot in its highly profitable European units.
iPhone – the marketing tool
Recently an iPhone application generated great financial and PR returns for Pizza Hut. When using the ordering programme Pizza Hut App, the “guests” can use a graphic interface to compile their menus, while on the touchscreen they can play games to set how much they would like of what. Such iPhone orders generated a USD 1 million revenue for the company.
Another try with smoothie
Since June, a Hungarian franchise, Dr. Frutti has been present on the so-far modestly popular smoothie market. One of their goals is establishing the culture of smoothie. In richer parts of the world this drink (often made from 3-4 fruit varieties, mixed with fruit juice and yoghurt or milk) is highly successful and is often consumed as a dessert. In the US or Western Europe, there are smoothie chains, but in Hungary Dr. Frutti franchise’s owner intends to use a shop-in-shop system. The products are 400-ml drinks which contain 200 g of fruit, 100% fruit juice and low-fat milk; no sugar is used in the pre-packaged fruit mixes for the 7 varieties.
