foodora: There is no cucumber season in the food order
Vacations, school breaks and heatwaves also affect the consumption habits of Hungarians. Our daily routine of avoiding the heat is also reflected in our food ordering habits. The compilation of foodora reveals how we survive the extreme heat and how much our orders change in the summer.
Our food orders and online purchases are also influenced by the seasons, and the types of food and products that are most often placed in the shopping cart change. According to the data of the leading fast-food platform, light, fresh dishes are popular in the summer, while in the winter, more substantial and filling dishes are popular. Among the top 10 most frequently ordered types of food, there are more salads, seafood and grilled food in the summer, while burgers and fried foods dominate in the winter. In the summer of 2024, the specialties of Thai and Greek cuisine will enjoy outstanding popularity compared to the similar period of previous years.
Beach food in the coolness of the apartment
Hot and boiled corn is an essential element of the summer beach atmosphere. And as expected, the number of hot orders also increases significantly during the summer months. Between June and August 2024, nearly 15,000 people bought foodora. While nearly 70 restaurants offered this Hungarian favorite in 2023, in 2024 it became available in more than 80 places. So we can enjoy the Hungarian classic not only near the beaches and markets.
In the heat, the order numbers for mineral water, fiber and carbonated soft drinks also jump. The list of products is clearly headed by mineral waters, of which foodora users prefer non-carbonated water, followed by sugar-free soft drinks. In summer, it is more common for lunch or dinner orders to include mineral water or soft drinks in the cart.
