Important deadline for beekeepers
From January 27, applications for support can be submitted for the call for proposals entitled “Animal welfare support in the beekeeping sector”, which aims to preserve the health of bee colonies and develop their ecosystem service capacity, announced on December 20, 2024 within the framework of the CAP Strategic Plan.

The importance of the beekeeping sector goes beyond itself, as honey can be imported, but not pollination. Due to the role of bees in pollination and the difficult situation of farmers who keep them due to the counterfeit honey flooding the EU agricultural markets, the Ministry of Agriculture seizes every opportunity to help the work of Hungarian beekeepers when planning the use of EU agricultural support.
This call also serves this purpose
The support will provide non-refundable support in the amount of 30 euros per bee colony per year to those farmers who keep bees and meet the conditions and who, beyond the mandatory requirements specified in the legislation, voluntarily undertake to fulfill the obligation to leave 4 kilograms of honey per bee colony per year according to the conditions specified in the call. The duration of the program is five years, from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2029. In order to prepare properly, the ministry would like to draw your attention to the fact that the possibility of submitting support applications on the electronic interface of the Hungarian State Treasury will begin on 27 January 2025 and end on 13 March 2025.
Beekeeping is one of the smaller sectors in Hungarian agriculture, but it can still be considered one of the most important
Recognizing this, Hungary has made it possible to exempt beekeeping activities from tax, a unique feature in Europe. In addition, for five years now, Hungarian beekeepers have been receiving so-called bee health support from domestic sources, which they apply for annually after 1 million bee colonies.
