It is important to increase the water retention capacity of the soil
Anikó Juhász, Deputy Secretary of State responsible for agriculture, participated in a bilateral professional meeting in Bratislava, where the State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Martin Kováč, presented the recently developed strategy for increasing the water-holding capacity of the soil by improving hydrological conditions.
The water cycles of smaller areas can be maintained by providing longer runoff paths for sudden large amounts of precipitation with agrotechnical operations in the areas. At the same time, they guarantee continuous plant coverage, so that evaporation and evaporation ensure a balanced temperature for a longer period of time, which has a positive effect on both the natural and built environment. At the consultation, it was emphasized that the cooperation of farmers at the local level has an increased role in the implementation, while their strategy also contributes to mitigating the effects of climate change nationally. During the meeting, the popularity of the commitments of the Agro-ecological Program, the experiences of the KAP Strategic Plan so far, the role of the National Chambers of Agriculture and village farmers’ networks, and the agricultural issues of the draft decree on the creation of the EU certification framework for carbon dioxide removal were discussed. The revitalization of soil life is closely related to the latter, for which improving water balance is essential.
Both parties evaluated the consultation positively, so it is expected that further cooperation between the two ministries may take place in the near future.
