ALDI keeps getting greener
In 2021 ALDI installed solar panels at another 16 stores, so altogether 18 Hungarian ALDI stores are now utilising their own green energy for almost two months a year! Shoppers can take back used cooking oil to nearly 10 times more stores than before – from the collected oil biodiesel is made or electricity is produced in biogas plants. In partnership with E.ON, ALDI is busy expanding its e-vehicle charging network, and this year will see the debut of the discount supermarket chain’s second e-truck.
Every ALDI store, and the headquarters and logistics centre in Biatorbágy uses 100% green electricity. 100% of ALDI’s waste collection is selective, every year the chain participates in the Plastic Free July programme and 81% of stores – in cooperation with Food Bank – save leftover food and donate it to people in need.
ALDI Magyarország won “Environmentally Conscious Retailer of the Year” in the “Az Év Boltja 2022” competition for the second year in a row.
