The head of the ministry explained that bird flu is appearing in more and more areas in our country. The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) is doing everything to prevent the spread of the virus. The Ministry of Agriculture continues to ask poultry farmers to strictly comply with the epidemic prevention rules. In the current situation, the aim of the official measures is to stop the epidemic, this is in the interest of the domestic poultry sector, and in this we ask for the cooperation of all concerned. With quick and effective joint action, there is a chance to minimize the losses and to lift the restrictions as soon as possible, he added.
István Nagy also drew attention to the fact that Nébih’s colleagues registered the most outbreaks in Bács-Kiskun county, where the number of cases exceeds 120, and the number of animals affected by the infection is more than 1.6 million
The animal health authority extended the protection and monitoring districts to the entire area of Bács-Kiskun county and to a significant part of Csongrád-Csanád county. In the areas of Csongrád-Csanád county not affected by the restriction, it prohibited the introduction of all exploited waterfowl stock. Another measure is that the introduction of poultry and other captive birds to fairs, as well as the holding of ornamental bird and pigeon exhibitions, is prohibited in the entire territory of Hungary, the minister emphasized.
