Dr. Oetker develops pizza production in cooperation with a college in Germany
The newly launched cooperation between Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) and Dr. Oetker focuses on linking research and practice in the food industry. The parties aim to develop smart technologies that will make pizza production more efficient.
Since 2017, TH OWL has been working on the application of digitalisation in the food industry within the Future Food Factory OWL. The new partnership will test and develop the research results in practice. The project will bring together academic expertise and industrial experience, giving students, researchers and industry players the opportunity to explore new perspectives.
Dr. Christian von Twickel, member of Dr. Oetker’s International Board of Directors, said: “In the future, the company will further develop its quality standards through data-driven analysis and integrate sensor systems directly into production processes. TH OWL’s scientific support will help the company to become a data-driven, technologically advanced and sustainable food producer.
According to Prof. Dr. Jan Schneider, head of Future Food Factory OWL, the cooperation is another important step in strengthening practice-oriented research. Both parties will focus on innovating and making pizza production more sustainable through jointly developed solutions.
The project will stimulate innovation, contribute to the training of skilled workers and strengthen the economy of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region. Dr. Oetker is implementing the project through cooperation between its international pizza production plants and its Research and Development department.
