Fine Dining: Gastronomic Stories of Ancient China exhibition opened at the Museum of Ethnography
Fine Dining: An exhibition entitled Fine Dining: The Gastronomic Stories of Ancient China opened on Tuesday at the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest. The exhibition presents about 90 artefacts from the collection of the National Museum of China from ancient times to modern times.
Gábor Csaba, Deputy Secretary of State for Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) highlighted at the opening: this is a special occasion from the point of view of Hungarian-Chinese cultural relations, when a large-scale exhibition presenting the old eras of the 5,000-year history of Chinese gastronomy and related material culture will be opened will take place in an institution that houses one of the richest ethnographic and folk art collections in Europe.
He emphasized: the exhibition born from the cooperation of the museums also exemplifies how cultural exchange can contribute to the strengthening of mutual respect and understanding between countries and peoples with different cultures.
He pointed out that the exhibition offers an insight into the linguistic, philosophical and spiritual components of Chinese gastronomy through its rich material, images and textual material. The exhibition points out how our present age is rooted in cultural traditions, ancient experiences and wisdom, he added.
