The first Primark store in Hungary opens with a penny sale
Primark, the popular fashion retailer, is set to open its first store in Hungary at Arena Mall on Tuesday at 10 AM, anticipated to attract a large crowd. The store’s opening highlights Primark’s competitive pricing strategy, offering complete outfits for the equivalent of $100, a stark contrast to more expensive stores like Macy’s in New York, where the same amount might only buy a single pair of jeans.
Spanning 3,100 square meters, the new store will feature a broad range of products including women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel, as well as accessories and technical goods. Maciej Podwojski, Primark’s Director for Eastern Europe, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, with goals to use only recyclable or recycled materials by 2030 and to cut their carbon emissions in half by the same year.
The investment for the new store amounted to 8 million euros, creating 180 new jobs. Primark employs cost-saving strategies like bulk purchasing, minimal marketing expenditure, and efficient logistics, enabling them to maintain low prices. Podwojski hinted at potential further expansion in Hungary, focusing on the success of this first store before considering additional locations.
