The Hungarian Bread Program awarded young agricultural professionals
Twelve young agricultural professionals from Transylvania, Subcarpathia and the mainland received support for their studies and farming as part of the Hungarian bread for the future scholarship program, thanks to the help of the Agricultural Enterprise Credit Guarantee Foundation (AVHGA) in Budapest on Monday.
The certificates of support of half a million forints per person were handed over by István Jakab, Vice-President of the Parliament, President of the Association of Hungarian Farmers’ Associations and Farmers’ Cooperatives (Magosz), Balázs Győrffy, President of the National Chamber of Agriculture, and András Herczegh, Executive Director of the AVHGA, in the Parliament building. István Jakab said: the Magyarok Kenyere Program, whose goal is for Hungarian farmers to collect wheat and flour for communities in need, is a strong pillar of national unity and its goals include strengthening unity. The creation and operation of the program originates from the souls of Hungarian farmers, and the goal of the scholarship program launched now is to help young professionals build the future, he added. “Feel that the nation is behind you!” – said István Jakab.
András Herczegh, the executive director of the AVHGA, emphasized that it is an honor for the foundation to be able to help young people with their studies, farming and professional development
According to his description, the purpose of the foundation’s activities is to provide farmers with loans, bank guarantees, and leasing contracts. To this end, 24,000 farmers are guaranteeing HUF 580 billion in loans. At the same time, for the sake of the common future and national unity, they undertook to provide funds for the implementation of the scholarship program, he said. Balázs Győrffy, the president of the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy, said: it is important to supply specialists who are able to build a successful agriculture in the future by continuing our rich national traditions. “Complete this mission!” – the speaker called on the prize winners.
Among the awardees, Péter Molnár from Transcarpathia believed that the program is crucial for national survival
The beekeeper Csongor Csomortán from Transylvania wants to use the grant to buy equipment for making creamed honey, while Natália Papp Hanna from the motherland – as she said – will use the scholarship to pay for her higher agricultural studies. In the framework of the Magyarok Kenyere Program, launched in 2011, more than 8,000 donating farmers collected a thousand tons of wheat and five hundred tons of flour in the past year and distributed them with the help of the organizers throughout the Carpathian Basin to the needy.
