After the Festival
Zoltán Zilai, managing director of Magyar Szőlő és Borkultúra Nonprofit Kft. – the organiser of the Budapest Wine Festival – talked to our magazine about the event: ‘The weather was perfect during the 4 days of the festival. There were approximately 40,000 visitors and the value of products sold increased by 20 percent if compared with last year’s festival. The average visitor spent HUF 8,000-10,000.
Those who came could choose from the wines of 160 winemakers and from food cooked at two dozen food stands. This year’s guest country was Chile, the 5th biggest wine exporter and the 7th biggest wine maker in the world. The festival’s main sponsor was SPAR, but we also got support from the Prime Minister’s Office and NEFMI.Let me grab this opportunity to make it clear that the Buda Castle Wine Festival will stay in the castle in the years to come.’. //
