Fernet-Branca
Bitter herbal liqueur Fernet-Branca has been produced in Milan since 1845. This amaro is made from 27 herbs and other ingredients. It is aged in oak barrels for more than a year and its sugar content is very low.
Fernet-Branca’s scent is stronger than that of most bitter herbal liqueurs and it is often consumed as a digestif or used as a mixing component – in recent years Fernet-Branca has become one of bartenders’ favourite ingredients. In South America Fernet and Coke is an iconic drink. The company already advertised the brand in newspapers back in 1865; the one you can see here is from the first edition of the daily paper Il Corriere della Sera, which was published in 1876. (x)
